From the recording Ballad of a Bad Girl
As I was driving down to a songwriters’ week at the Swannanoa Gathering many years ago, I was in need of solace at that time in my life. The rolling river and velvet hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains were the elixir for my ragged soul. The motif that carries the chorus came instantly, but it took years to write the rest of this song. With Lindley’s help, and after creating several versions of music, the song came to life. Tony Levin offers an evocative bass solo adding perfect texture to the simple music.
